| On 6 November 1989, Manchester's 808 State released Pacific and started a ten year journey that redefined the influences - and influence of - electronic music, mashed up musical styles with a stream of 808 State Versus. projects, launched the careers of several guest vocalists and, most importantly, began a story that has become a cornerstone of the development of the dance music genre. But by the time they arrived at ZTT Records, several chapters of the 808 story had already been written.
