| In 1974, Big Star were imploding. After the disappointing sales of their debut album, and the departure of founding member Chris Bell in late '72, the band had recorded their sophomore effort, Radio City, as a three piece. By the time of the album's release in February '74, however, Big Star was down to just two members - Alex Chilton and Jody Stephens. Recording under the moniker 'Sister Lovers', the pair persevered and went into the studio in late '74 for sessions for a new album, Third.
