| Płyta zawiera nagrania w wykonaniu 24 osobowej obsady musicalu "American Idiot" z akompaniamentem grupy Green Day. Premiera spektaklu miała miejsce w nowojorskim St. James Theatre pod koniec kwietnia 2010 roku. Album zawiera wszystkie utwory z "American Idiot" z 2004 roku oraz niektóre piosenki z ostatniego krążka zespołu - "21st Century Breakdown". Wokalista i gitarzysta Joe Armstrong wraz z basistą Mike Dirntem i perkusistą Tre Coolem napisali elektryzujacą muzykę do przedstawienia opowiadającego o pokoleniu młodych amerykanów szukajacych swojego miejsca we współczesnym świecie. Aranzacje i orkiestracje zostały przygotowane przez zdobywcę nagrody Tony - Toma Kitta, który jest również szefem muzycznym musicalu. Za produkcję płyty odpowiadał Joe Armstrong.
