Krążek jest następcą świetnie przyjętej przez fanów i krytykę płyty 'Send Away The Tigers' z 2007 roku. Warto dodać, że od 2008 roku zespół dumnie nosi także tytuł 'NME Godlike Genius', przyznawany przez brytyjski tygodnik muzyczny NME.
'Journal For Plague Lovers' wyprodukowany został przez Steve'a Albiniego (Nirvana, PJ Harvey, Iggy & the Stooges, Joanna Newsroom) i nagrany w walijskich Rockfield Studios zimą 2008.
