| "Shake It Up" zarejestrowali Ric Ocasek, Elliot Easton, Greg Hawkes, Benjamin Orr i David Robinson. Album ukazał się w 1981 roku i dwukrotnie pokrył się w USA platyną, docierając do dziewiątego miejsca na "Billboardzie". Piosenki zarejestrowano w Bostonie, rodzinnej miejscowości zespołu, a produkował Roy Thomas Baker (m.in. Queen). Sesja nagraniowa odbyła się w należącym do muzyków studiu Syncro Sound. Z tej płyty pochodzą przeboje "Since You're Gone", "Think It Over" oraz "Shake It Up". Do reedycji dodano między innymi wczesną wersję "Since You're Gone", demo "Shake It Up" i niepublikowany wcześniej utwór "Midnight Dancer".
