They're the only band to have emerged from the New Romantic' movement to still be relevant today and exist as anything more than a nostalgia act, as they continue to challenge, mutate and experiment with every new record. But Depeche Mode took more stick from the critics and from their contemporaries than just about any other group from that less than glorious era.
