The album was released on October 30, 2006 in record stores around the United Kingdom, and in the United States nearly a year later on August 14, 2007. Before the album release, the song "Liquor & Love Lost" was originally known under the title "Dragon Slaying" but was renamed a short while before release. While under the title of "Dragon Slaying" the track also had slightly different lyrics. The album's name comes from the song "Pray for Plagues."
