By the time ESG's debut LP, Come Away With ESG, was finally released in 1983, the Scroggins sisters had already released two EPs for 99 Records and a single for England's Factory RecordsŚproduced by Martin Hannett (Joy Division)Śand had become influential members of NYC's downtown No Wave scene. Nothing out of the ordinary, except for the fact that the Scroggins' sisters were four black girls from the South Bronx who had about as much in common with the Teenage Jesus as Teenage Jesus had with Jesus of Nazareth.
