Acclaimed initially because Krallice were considered the black metal brainchild of guitar wizard (and one of the top 50 fastest guitar players of all time, according to Guitar World magazine) Mick Barr (Ocrilim, Orthrelm etc.) and Colin Marston (Gorguts, Dysrhythmia, Behold. The Arctopus, Byla etc.), the band have transcended such a genre and created a distinct and unique sound of their own with their eponymous self-titled debut album. Black metal influenced of course, yet progressively tinged with many reference points to both musicians' other works, Krallice's debut album became quite a force within the scene that it even prompted SPIN magazine to deem them one of the top 5 metal bands to watch (Krallice's debut was also the number two album on singer-songwriter Ryan Adam's top nine best albums of 2008 list!), along with acclaim in all the major metal magazines around, as Krallice's debut pretty much found its way on many year-end best of lists (such as in media outlets like Decibel, Terrorizer, and Pitchfork).
