Od blisko ćwierć wieku piosenkarka Mary Black pozostaje jedną z najbardziej cenionych wykonawców tradycyjnej muzyki Irlandzkiej, zarówno w samej Irlandii jak i poza jej granicami. San Francisco Chronicle określił ją, jako "One of the best interpretative singers around".
Wystarczy spojrzeć na listę muzyków, z którymi współpracuje: Emmylou Harris, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Joan Baez, Van Morrison, nie wspominając o całej plejadzie tradycyjnych irlandzkich muzyków i śpiewaków.
Od swojego debiutu fonograficznego w 1983 roku (płyta zajęła 4 lokatę w Irish Charts 1980's) pozostaje w centrum zainteresowania fanów i mediów na całym świecie.
