| Ranking among the most important jazz musicians of the 1960s, multi-instrumentalist, composer and arranger Oliver Nelson was known too for his rigorous work ethic and his loyal commitment to his craft. Despite his premature death, Nelson still managed to chalk up three decades in the business, while recording some of the most influential music of the era. His 1961 release, The Blues and the Abstract Truth, is still heralded as one of the most significant LPs in modern jazz and his discography reveals a plethora of classic albums within its confines.
