| Sonny Boy Williamson was, in more ways than one, the ultimate Blues legend.
On the day of his death in 1965, he had lived long enough to have played with Robert Johnson at the birth of his career and with Eric Clapton and Jimmy Page at the end of it. In between he had a successful radio show for 15 years, reaped great success on European tours, and basically wrote, played and recorded some of the greatest Blues ever.
His vocal delivery was deviously evil and cynical, while his harmonica playing ranged from staccato, rhythmic bursts to powerful, impassioned storm blowing. [...more...]
