The Specials to jedna z najważniejszych formacji przełomu lat 70. i 80. Zespół, który powstał w 1977 roku jako The Coventry Automatics, łączył w swej twórczości jamajskie rytmy ska z rocksteady i z punkową energią, czym przyczynił się się do rozpowszechnienia Ska Revival. Dzięki szlakom przetartym przez The Specials, swoje pierwsze single wydali Madness, The Beat czy The Selecter. Przygotowana z okazji 40-lecia reedycja debiutanckiej płyty została zremasterowana na bazie oryginalnych taśm przez Milesa Showella w Abbey Road Studios. By osiągnąć optymalną jakość, wydawnictwo podzielone zostało na dwa 12-calowe winyle odtwarzane z prędkością 45 obrotów na minutę. Najnowszy album The Specials, "Encore", dotarł na szczyt UK Charts.
