All 13 episodes from the first season of the Japanese anime based on the manga written and illustrated by Yuji Kaku. When assassin Gabimaru (voice of Chiaki Kobayashi) is captured, his executioners are unable to kill him and so instead offer him a chance to win his freedom. If he travels to the mysterious island of Shinsenkyo with executioner Sagiri (Yumiri Hanamori) and returns with the Elixir of Life, he will be pardoned.
However, the five previous expedition teams sent to Shinsenkyo all failed because the island is full of monstrous creatures and unknown threats and this time, the authorities have decided to send a group of convicts who have no loyalty to each other or the executioners who accompany them.
