1974 was a pivotal year in the life of Fleetwood Mac, a year of enormous
upheaval, but the first step towards their ascent to global success. For their front
man, however, the legacy of 1974 would ultimately be a bitter one. Bob Welch
had initially joined the group in 1971 and had emerged as Fleetwood Mac's
principal songwriter and vocalist, yet personal conflicts within the band and
legal battles derailed their career for well over a year.
When the group finally returned in 1974 with Heroes Are Hard To Find, an album
largely written by Welch, it became Fleetwood Mac's highest charter to date.
