After the death of Gov't Mule's founding member, Allen Woody, it was the intention to record one record as a tribute to Woody. But as the sessions proceeded, the list of bassplayers Woody admired became longer and longer leaving the remaining members Warren Haynes and Matt Abts no choice then to split the project in two releases.

In September 2011 Music On Vinyl released The Deep End Vol. 1 (MOVLP352) as a double LP and now we complete the set with Volume 2. Haynes and Abts teamed up with Phil Lesh (The Grateful Dead), Les Claypool (Primus), Jason Newsted (ex-Metallica) and Billy Cox (Band Of Gypsies) resulting in, again, a double LP with genres varying from funk to heavy metal and psychedelic rock to punky weirdness.
