One of the most well-known hidden gems of the progressive scene - maudlin of the Well spawned a companion album cult classic with Bath and Leaving Your Body Map, which made a slight ripple upon release and exploded into the mainstream of underground prog after the band broke up. Their CDs have spawned multiple pressings after breaking up, the band was offered an entire album's budget by fans after they broke up to record a new album (far before crowdfunding had caught on), and are now seeing their second pressing on wax after loads of demand. These albums run the gamut of genres from soft, almost spoken-word to raging death metal and have captured something special in the heart of the internet music fan, with more than 2000 ratings per album on popular user review site RateYourMusic and a ranking of the #27th and #29th best albums for the year 2001.
