Matthew Coleman is commonly regarded as the thinking man's garage guru. His debut was a startlingly fresh take on the two-step sound--all impossibly catchy hooks, lush textures and plenty of melodious thunk. Cut to the Chase offers more of the same: a broad selection of tracks linked together by Cole's signature production style. Utilising the talents of no less than nine vocalists including Jill Scott, Elephant Man, Shaun Escoffrey, Danny Vicious and Lyric L, the affable beatmeister has created a sprawling soundtrack that offers saccharine sweeteners ("What You Give", "Wondering Why", "Perfect Pitch"), floor-bound headbangers ("Madman" and "Ruff Like Me"), supine R&B ("Lost Our Way", "Nice and Slow") and some more experimental flavours such as "Nextism" and "Flood the Streets".
