THE O'JAYS became one of the first signings at the newly formed, now legendary, Philadelphia International Records. BACKSTABBERS, released in 1972, was the album that made THE O'JAYS a household name and begun a period of incredible success with Philadelphia International, giving them close to 30 singles in the charts including a string of #1 R&B hits helping them to become one the label's biggest group and also serving as a landmark of the classic Philly Soul sound. The title track was chosen for the first single and reached #5 on the US Pop chart while giving THE O'JAYS a #1 R&B hit.
