This harrowing film was produced in May 1945 at the personal insistence of US General Dwight D. Eisenhower. He was so shocked by what he witnessed with his own eyes at the first concentration camps to be liberated that he ordered that this film should be made as a lasting testament to the barbarism which had occurred under the Nazi regime. This unspeakable footage was used in evidence at the Nuremberg trials and provides the ultimate primary source which illustrates the inexcusable horrors discovered by the advancing Allied forces.
