On 6 November 1989, Manchester's 808 State released Pacific and started a ten year journey that redefined the influences - and influence of - electronic music, mashed up musical styles with a stream of 808 State Versus. projects, launched the careers of several guest vocalists and, most importantly, began a story that has become a cornerstone of the development of the dance music genre. But by the time they arrived at ZTT Records, several chapters of the 808 story had already been written. Martin Price had already met Graham Massey, while Martin was running the Eastern Bloc record shop on Oldham Street in Manchester.
