| Po sukcesie debiutanckiego albumu, Echo & The Bunnymen wydali w 1981 roku EP-kę "Shine So Hard". Zestaw zawierał materiał zarejestrowany na żywo w Pavilion Gardens w Buxton, niedługo przed premierą drugiej studyjnej płyty "Heaven Up Here", która ujrzała światło dzienne w tym samym roku. Album trafił do top 10 listy sprzedaży w UK i otrzymał nagrodę za Najlepszy album podczas 1981 NME Awards. Nieco mroczniejszą od debiutu płytę wyprodukował Hugh Jones. Z wydawnictwa pochodzą takie utwory jak "A Promise", "Over the Wall" czy "Show of Strength".
